MPLS - Multi Protocol Label Switching
MPLS is a data-carrying mechanism that is generally considered to lie between traditional definitions of Layer 2 (Data Link Layer) and Layer 3 (Network Layer), and thus is often referred to as a "Layer 2.5" protocol. It can be used to carry many different kinds of traffic, including IP packets, as well as native ATM, SONET, and Ethernet frames.

Not ready for an equipment upgrade across the whole network to MPLS, yet? We can deploy an intermediate technology based on Cisco’s Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) that to your router looks like frame relay, but uses IPSec tunneling across the carrier backbone, with multiple benefits to you, including cost reductions.

IPSec VPN
IP security (IPSec) authenticates and/or encrypts each IP packet in a data stream. A virtual private network (VPN) is a communications network tunneled through another network, and dedicated for a specific network. One common application is secure communications through the public Internet, but a VPN need not have explicit security features, such as authentication or content encryption. VPNs, for example, can be used to separate the traffic of different user communities over an underlying network with strong security features.
