Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWAN) as a Backup for DSL

Backup your wide area network with a cellular failover router to protect your mission critical and customer facing procedures in case of DSL outages.

ISDN is a 1970s technology that is nearly impossible to manage from a carrier billing and up time perspective. We have worked on proposals for IDSN replacement where the company in question would save over 1 million dollars annually by replacing legacy IDSN lines with cellular technology.

The routers we support can fail from DSL or dedicated hosting IP (dedicated Internet) to a cellular based WWAN instantly, and if power is lost to your primary wide area network router, you’re not out of business, because your internet traffic will route right around the primary router.

ISDN WIC cards are installed in the router, so if the power fails, having an ISDN WIC card for backup is ineffective. Programming the switch in front of your wide area network router to fail over to a different cellular router solves the problem.

Ideal Environments for Network Backup Over Cellular
We’ve all seen cases where DSL circuits take 4-5 days to come back up after a hard rain or simple DSLAM outage takes down service. This is unnaceptable if you’re trying to run point of sale transactions at the end of the month, or trying to process payroll.

Ideal environments for Network Backup Over Cellular are:

  • bank ATMs
  • quick service restaurants
  • mortgage or financial services offices
  • or really any environment where connectivity is critical to the success of the business
