 Bluetree 4600 CDMA-EvDO-Rev.A Programmable Modem

Bluetree 4600 CDMA-EvDO-Rev.A Programmable Modem

The BlueTree 4600 EvDO Rev.A is a smart, rugged wireless modem built to provide simple and reliable communications over cellular CDMA (EvDO Rev.A) data network. As part of the IP 4000 Series, it is designed for numerous telemetry applications including Disaster Recovery, Wireless WAN back-up, DSL landline replacement and mobile computing applications not requiring GPS functionality. BlueTree's BlueVue Management Software supports remote configuration and monitoring over a secure wireless data connection.

For use in extreme conditions, the BlueTree 4600 is built to meet the special operating requirements for both mobile installations and fixed industrial applications. Tested by an independent laboratory to ensure that military and automotive standards for reliability and durability are met. This rugged modem is designed to withstand the demands of vibration, temperature, shock and humidity in harsh environments.

The RS-232 (DB9) serial interface allows the BlueTree 4600 modem to connect to any data terminal equipment using a standard cable. The USB interface allows for connectivity to a like computing device using a standard USB adapter cable. With a standard network cross-over cable the BlueTree 4600 can connect to an Ethernet computing device.

To simplify upgrading from CDPD networks and to protect the investment in existing technology, the BlueTree's IP 4600 modem has interface connectors that support legacy wireless data systems. These power and antenna connectors match those in the field, in most instances. The benefits are reduced installation, deployment and accessory costs to the customer.

The IP 4600 incorporates a second cellular antenna connector that improves receiver sensitivity by up to 3dB on both 800 MHz and 1900 MHz bands, resulting in increased connectivity, coverage and reliability.

Sensors can be connected to the I/O port of the IP 4600 modem (4 digital inputs, 3 digital outputs and 3 analog inputs). This allows fleet management and public safety applications to remotely trigger an output of the modem to turn ON or OFF peripheral equipment. The modem has the capability to monitor its digital input sensors for any change in state, and send a report to a remote server based on an event trigger (such as a panic button or ignition ON/OFF). The analog inputs allow monitoring of gradient data sources (such as a temperature sensor and low voltage indication). The modem has an intuitive embedded Event Reporting Protocol that automatically formats the messages reported to the remote server.

The embedded microprocessor in the BlueTree 4600 supports multiple "serial-over-IP" applications. Combining the ability to communicate with attached non-intelligent devices, allows the modem to support more complex applications and specific customer solutions.

The IP 4600 modem has 'smart' programming so that it can initiate its own wireless data connection to the cellular network and complete the transfer of information. This feature allows for non-IP serial devices to be attached to the IP 4600, such as utility meters, and eliminates the need for operator intervention or an attached computer.

By combining the power of graphical client software with the embedded intelligence inside the modem's firmware, the BlueTree 4600 can easily be configured, monitored and managed using a local cable connection or a remote wireless data connection.
